Marquette – The Peter White Public Library will host an Oral History Workshop to learn how to preserve treasured family memories on Saturday, July 7 from 1 to 4 .m. in the Community Room of the library.
Russell Magnaghi, Director of the Center of Upper Peninsula Studies at Northern Michigan University will lead the workshop. Participants will learn the techniques and principles of doing oral history. Topics will include the importance of oral histories, the process of organizing an oral history project, how to identify interviewees and contact them, setting up the interview, what questions to ask, equipment to use, transcribing, legal issues, and much more.
