MARQUETTE, Michigan — An emergency services exercise will be held on Tuesday, May 15, at Northern Michigan University. It is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. in the academic mall area of campus.
NMU Public Safety will be joined by area fire departments, EMS, law enforcement and other relevant entities to test coordinated response, evacuation and communication strategies after a mock explosion with casualties. Marquette General Hospital will also test its ability to accommodate and treat a surge of burn patients arriving at once. The exercise will help to evaluate emergency operations plans of the university, city and county.
There will be a number of emergency vehicles in the area. For more information, contact Mike Bath, director of NMU Public Safety and Police Services, at 227-2757.
