Veterans’ Facilities Board of Managers Appointment

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today appointed James Ausdemore, of Pinckney, to the Michigan Veterans’ Facilities Board of Managers.

The seven-member volunteer board oversees admissions and member affairs at veterans’ homes in Marquette and Grand Rapids. Members represent the interest of veterans in both advisory and advocacy roles and are nominated for board service by fellow veterans and peers in veteran organizations across the state. Board members offer a variety of professional skills that improve and enhance operations at Michigan’s veterans’ homes.

“Our veterans deserve the highest quality of service and care,” said Snyder. “I am confident that James will continue to support the board’s outstanding service to Michigan’s veterans.”

Ausdemore retired from General Motors after nearly 30 years of service. With GM, he held many positions, including production supervisor, tooling engineer, labor relations representative, buyer and senior buyer. Ausdemore served with the Michigan Army National Guard and the U.S. Army, completing tours of duty in Korea, Vietnam and Europe. He is a member of the American Legion, Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Association and the Retired Army Officers Association. Ausdemore holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in education, both from the University of Nebraska. He will replace board member James Dunn, who resigned in order to serve veterans as the assistant deputy director of veterans’ affairs in the Michigan Department of Military and Veterans Affairs headquarters office.

Ausdemore will serve the remainder of a six-year term that expires Feb. 28, 2017 and can be reappointed one time for an additional six years.  His appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
