Ishpeming – The Ishpeming Rock and Mineral Club will meet on Sunday, February 19 at 1:30 p.m. at the Cliffs Shaft Mine Museum, 501 W. Euclid Street, Ishpeming. Doors open at 1 p.m. for viewing of the club’s mineral collection.
Dan Fountain, author of “Michigan Gold: Mining in the Upper Peninsula” will offer a presentation covering gold exploration and mining in the Upper Peninsula from the earliest gold discoveries in the 1840s to modern gold prospecting in the 21st century.
A silent auction of club mineral specimens and a business meeting will be held after the program. New members and guests are welcome.
