Hancock – The “Lights of Love” tree-lighting ceremony will take place on Thursday, December 4 at 10 a.m. in the main lobby of Portage Health, 500 Campus Drive, Hancock.
Community members can honor relatives and friends by reserving a light in a loved one's name. Each name will be displayed in Portage Health's main lobby during the holiday season, placed in a permanent memory book, displayed on Portage Health's Web site and read during the annual tree-lighting ceremony.
Auxiliary members will read the names, and a benediction will be given by hospital chaplain, the Rev. Tom Anderson of Grace United Methodist Church in Houghton.
A musical ensemble of Hancock High School students will perform seasonal songs. Complimentary refreshments will be served following the ceremony.
Donations to the Lights of Love program will benefit the Auxiliary's Scholarship Program. Each year, a scholarship is awarded to an outstanding local college student who plans to enter the healthcare field.
