Marquette – Afternoon Classic Films will present a screening of the film “Goodbye Mr. Chips” on Monday, February 6 at 1:30 p.m. in the Community Room of the Peter White Public Library.
Robert Donat plays an aging teacher and former headmaster of a boarding school recalling his career and personal life over the decades. This romantic drama costars Greer Garson in the role of the love interest of the old classics teacher as he ages on screen in flashbacks looking over his long career, remembering pupils and colleagues, and above all the idyllic courtship and marriage that transformed his life.
The 1939 film as nominated for 7 Academy Awards, winning Best Actor for Donat. “Goodbye Mr. Chips” will be shown in the original black and white and runs for 114 minutes.
