Marquette – The Marquette Board of Light and Power is sponsoring its 18th annual Energy Awareness Month poster contest, open to 4th and 5th graders.
Students will create their own magazine cover promoting electrical safety on this year's theme, “Subscribe to Electrical Safety.”
The poster should feature a creative magazine name, an image that illustrates the magazine content, and a list of articles that would be in the magazine relating to electrical safety.
Entrants must reside in the BLP's service territory and have not previously won at any level in the contest. Homeschooled students are also eligible.
Free poster paper is available at the BLP administrative office, 2200 Wright St. A white 18 by 24 inch piece of paper may be used. Posters must be submitted at the administrative office by 4:30 p.m. Friday, January 2.
The winner will receive a $250 U.S. Savings Bond. Second prize is a $150 savings bond and third is a $100 savings bond. All honorable mention winners will receive $75 savings bonds. Winners will be notified in January.
