Marquette – In celebration of blues music, the community is invited to a Bluesday Tuesday event featuring a presentation entitled “Early Blues Women” on Tuesday, November 29 at 7 p.m. in the Community Room of the Peter White Public Library.
Local music aficionado Bill Hart of WNMU Public Broadcasting will provide a background on some the first and most influential women in blues music. Artists like Gertrude “Ma” Rainey, Mother of the Blues, America’s First Lady of the Blues Mamie Smith and Memphis Minnie will be the focus of this informative multi-media presentation.
There is no admission charge to attend the event which is co-sponsored by the Marquette Area Blues Society and the Peter White Public Library.
