Ribbon Cutting at Lower Level Gallery in Celebration of New Lighting System

Marquette, MI – Ribbon Cutting at Lower Level Gallery in Celebration of New Lighting System.

An official ribbon-cutting ceremony for the City of Marquette Arts and
Culture Center’s Lower Level Gallery was held on Tuesday, September
20, 2011. Held in celebration of the installation of new gallery
lighting, the ceremony was sponsored by the Downtown Development
Authority and representatives from Lake Superior Art Association and
the City of Marquette Arts and Culture Center were both in attendance.
The Lower Level Gallery is located in the lower level of the Peter
White Public Library.

The City of Marquette Arts and Culture Center and Lake Superior Art
Association share the exhibition space. A matching grant from Lake
Superior Art Association allowed the Art Center to make the lighting
improvement. Both organizations are excited about the possibilities
the new lighting system will bring. Lea Dziesinski, City of Marquette
Arts Programming Coordinator, comments, “The new gallery lights will
allow us to showcase artists’ work in a presentable, professional way.
The completion of the project strengthens the partnership between the
City and Lake Superior Art Association.”

Upcoming exhibitions in the Lower Level Gallery include: Marquette
Arts and Culture sponsored “Beyond the Shoulder” by Christine
Flavin and Kristine Granger (until October 11, 2011), Lake Superior
Art Association sponsored “Of Nature, By Nature” by Jeff Massie
and Leonard Fieber (October 14 – November 9, 2011) and Lake Superior
Art Association sponsored “Trials and Tributes” by V.I.P.S. or
Variety in Painting Styles Group (November 14 – December 17).
