Marquette – The 11th annual Sonderegger Symposium will be held Friday, September 16 and Saturday, September 17 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day in Mead Auditorium in the West Science Building at Northern Michigan University. A continental breakfast will be served at 8 a.m. each day.
Fourteen presentations on topics relevant to the Upper Peninsula will be offered during the symposium. NMU professors and students, along with independent scholars, will address subjects including rural homelessness, George Shiras and the early 20th century environmental movement, human aspects of commercial fishing, downtown Marquette facades and national park properties in the Upper Peninsula.
The symposium will also feature a display of animal furs by Doug Boyle of U.P. Fur Trappers.
