Sands – The Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain will sponsor a Welcome Home event Saturday, August 13 at the Marquette County Fair in Sands Township.
The event is for veterans of Operations Enduring Freedom, Iraqi Freedom and New Dawn. Admission to the fair will be free from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for these veterans and their immediate family members.
A Welcome Home T-shirt and goody bags will be given to the first 100 OEF, OIF and OND veterans on Saturday. A special $1 admission is available for all veterans August 11 through 14.
VA personnel, veterans service officers and the VA Mobile Veteran Center will be available on all days of the fair to discuss and answer questions related to veterans’ benefits and health care, including women’s health benefits, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and other behavioral health issues, educational benefits, federal employment opportunities and more. Veterans will also receive assistance in enrolling for VA health care.
