Upper Michigan Congressman Dan Benishek Weighs In On The Debt Ceiling Debate

US Congressman Dan Benishek - GLR NEWSMARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Upper Michigan Congressman Dan Benishek joined Sunny 101.9’s Mark & Walt in the Morning today for an exclusive interview discussing the current debate over raising the debt ceiling going on in Washington, D.C.

In the interview, the Iron River Republican outlined a three-part plan being worked on at Capitol Hill by House Republicans to cut government spending and calls on a constitutional amendment to balance the federal budget. The measure has no expected chance to become law due to the Democratic majority in the US Senate and Democrat President Barack Obama, who has threatened to veto the measure if it gets to his desk.

He also discussed the debt ceiling and how constituents here in the 1-st Congressional District feel about raising it.
