Ishpeming – The Friends of the Ishpeming Carnegie Public Library will present its fall lyceum on Sunday, September 28 at 2 p.m. in the children's room.
The lyceum will feature The Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, the Albert and James Lyons Camp 266 of the Upper Peninsula, Gary C. White, commander.
White and the Camp Brothers will discuss Marquette County's role in the Civil War, focusing on Civil War veterans buried in the Ishpeming Cemetery and goals of the SUVCW. They will also have information about the memorial to be built to honor Marquette County's Civil War veterans.
Actual artifacts from the Civil War will be on display, the highlight being an actual log from the Battle of Gettysburg with iron ball shot embedded in it. Some of the Camp Brothers will be in Civil War uniforms.
Light refreshments will be served following the program.
