Marquette County Teachers Come Together To Voice Their Displeasure With State Government

(MARQUETTE, MI) – Teachers in Marquette County are banding together to formally oppose recent cuts in state funding for K-12 budgets. Teachers from the Negaunee Public Schools and the Marquette Area Public School District are joining up with teachers from around the State of Michigan today in a “Day of Action” to protest the latest education funding cut recently passed in Lansing.

RaeAnn Loy, President of the Negaunee Education Association, joined Sunny 101.9’s Mark and Walt in the Morning today to talk about what their group, along with a similar group from the Marquette Schools, are hoping to accomplish. According to Loy, they are looking to inform the public about the challenges the school districts and teachers are facing in light of the cuts.

They are also telling all of their colleagues, concerned parents and members of the community to contact their legislators at the Capitol and let their feelings be known. Loy also added how people can get involved in the effort.
