Republic – A Memorial Day parade and program will be held Monday, May 30 in Republic.
The parade, led by the Grant-Nyman VFW Post 5014 Color Guard, and all veterans who wish to participate, will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the Republic United Methodist Church parking lot. Also marching will be the Republic-Michigamme High School Band, the volunteer fire department, members of the Lions Club and the local EMS squad, among others.
Featured at the 10 a.m. program at the veterans memorial in Republic Township cemetery will be the Rev. Katherine Finegan of Bethany Lutheran Church, a RMHS band performance, reading of a roster of the deceased, followed by VFW members performing ritual honors, a rifle salute and “Taps.” Refreshments will be served at the township hall.
Inclement weather site will be the RMHS gym.
