Calendar – Community – Save a U.P. Life Blood Drive – May 4

Marquette – The U.P. Regional Blood Center will host a Save a U.P. Life blood drive Wednesday, May 4 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 427 W. College Avenue, Marquette.

All donors will receive subs, soda, chips and cupcakes, and the first 100 donors will receive a coupon for a pastry from Lawry’s and a $10 gas card from Holiday.

All the blood donated at the blood center stays in the U.P. One pint of blood can be used to help three different people and donations benefit 13 Upper Peninsula hospitals.

Donors must be at least 17, in good health, weigh at least 110 pounds and have a picture ID. The donation process is a quick and simple. A technician performs a brief medical screening to check blood pressure, pulse, temperature and hemoglobin levels. This helps assure safe blood for patients, and also provides a quick check-up for donors. The entire process takes about 45 minutes, and the actual donation about 10 minutes.

To schedule an appointment, call 225-4610 or visit the blood center’s Facebook page.
