Marquette – The community is invited to hear about the exciting Upper Peninsula organic tomato production project on Sunday, April 10 at 2 p.m. in the Community Room of the Peter White Public Library in Marquette.
John A. Hust, CEO of Shelter Bay Tomatoes will detail his plans for a large scale modern production greenhouse to provide locally grown, organic tomatoes for the fresh market to Upper Peninsula and northern Wisconsin retailers and restaurants. The goal of the project is to put one and one half acres under glass to produce 25 pounds of tomatoes per square foot. Plans for other vegetable crops are in the works as well. The production will be all organic and the greenhouse will be heated with wood chips and eventually wind power.
There is no admission charge to attend the presentation. For more information call 226-4318 or visit www.pwpl.info.
