Marquette – In appreciation for the blues, the public is invited to a Bluesday Tuesday event on Tuesday, April 5 at 7 p.m. in the Peter White Public Library Community Room for a screening of the film “Crossroads”.
This 1988 film stars Ralph Macchio, Joe Seneca, and Jami Gertz and was inspired by blues music legend, Robert Johnson.
The film is the story of Lightning Boy a kid who can make a slide guitar sing and Blind Dog, an old pro who knows it. Together, they’re headed to a place where deals are made and legends are born.
Written by John Fusco, the film’s award winning soundtrack features slide guitarist, Ry Cooder and three time Grammy Award winning guitarist, Steve Vai, who appears in the film as the devil’s guitar player in the climactic guitar duel. “Crossroads” is rated R and runs for 99 minutes.
There is no admission charge to attend the event which is sponsored by the Marquette Area Blues Society and the Peter White Public Library.
