Marquette – The Beaumier U.P. Heritage Center at Northern Michigan University will present a month-long series of events tied to its exhibition “Across the Border: Canadians in the Upper Peninsula.”
Jean LaMarre of the Royal Military College of Canada will present “French Canadians in Michigan” on Thursday, March 24 at 7 p.m. in Mead Auditorium. He will discuss the forces that led to emigration from Quebec and other parts of Canada and why French Canadians chose to come to the Upper Peninsula. His lecture will focus on communities with prevalent French-Canadian populations, in particular, Lake Linden.
The event is free and open to the public.
