Marquette – Local astronomist Scott Stobbelaar will present a slide program on the exploration of planets outside of our solar system on Tuesday, October 19 at 7 p.m. in the Community Room of the Peter White Public Library in Marquette.
Stobbelaar’s program will reveal exciting new astronomical discoveries, the technology used to make these findings and the possibility of locating another planet like Earth. This presentation is in celebration of the One Book One Community read of “The Sparrow” by Mary Doria Russell. The book is a powerful and haunting tale about a journey to a distant planet and to the center of the human soul.
One Book One Community encourages the Marquette County and Northern Michigan University communities to read the same book and come together to discuss it in a variety of settings. For more information, call 226-4318.
