Gwinn – Lake Superior Chapter 850 of the Experimental Aircraft Association will offer free airplane flights for youths age 8 to 17 on Saturday, August 14 at Sawyer International Airport. Registration is from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the general aviation terminal, approximately 1 mile south of the passenger terminal.
Flights are limited to a one-time experience and offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Parents or legal guardians must complete a permission form, available on site. Legal guardians must have documentation; relatives usually do not qualify as legal guardians.
All pilots are certified by the Federal Aviation Administration and donate the use of their planes. Flights may be canceled due to unfavorable weather conditions.
