Marquette – The North Country Trail Hikers Chapter of the North Country Trail Association will hold a general membership meeting on Tuesday, September 15 at 7 p.m. in the Community Room of the Peter White Public Library in Marquette.public.
Ranger Clifton Edwards of the National Park Service will present “The Role of an NPS Ranger.” The presentation will focus on his experiences serving six summer seasons at Isle Royale National Park, two winter seasons at Everglades National Park and his first summer season at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore.
He will define the various ranger roles, focusing on the Protection Ranger. He will also discuss wilderness etiquette, Leave No Trace, and the challenge of the NPS to meet visitor use expectations while protecting the resource.
Following the presentation there will be a short business meeting, including the election of officers and new board members. The meeting is open to all.
