MARQUETTE AREA SCHOOLS TO RELOCATE 5-TH GRADE CLASSES

The Marquette Area Public Schools Board of Education has voted to relocate 5-th graders in the district to a new location. Following a 4-hour meeting and workshop last night, the board decided on a 5-to-2 vote to move 5th graders from the Graveraet school to the Bothwell school starting next year. The Bothwell school will now house 5th through 8th graders. Superintendent Jon Hartwig, during an exclusive interview with Great Lakes Radio News, said educational uses will be developed for Graveraet including the possibility of used it as an expanded alternative high school. Hartwig added that over time, the Board of Education will look at other possible grade alignment options.
