Marquette – Star Lab, Northern Michigan University’s portable planetarium, will be set up at the Peter White Public Library on Monday, February 8.
NMU astronomy professor Scott Stobbelaar will present three different programs at 3, 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. Registration is encouraged due to space limitations. Call the Youth Services desk at 226-4323 to sign up. There is no admission charge.
At 3 p.m. kindergarten through second grader students can learn about the night sky and the planets. Star stories told by Native Americans are the highlight of the 4:30 p.m. show, designed for first through sixth grades. The 6:30 p.m. program will feature Greek myth constellation stories for all ages.
Star Lab is an inflated silver fabric dome that accommodates up to 25 people. The night sky is projected on to the ceiling of the dome, providing a focused look at what is in the night sky. The Star Lab experience is part of the library’s Midwinter Storytelling Festival. For more information visit www.pwpl.info or call 226-4323.
