Ishpeming – The Ishpeming Rock and Mineral Club will meet on Sunday, January 17 at 1:30 p.m. at the Cliffs Shaft Mine Museum, 501 W. Euclid Street in Ishpeming.
A program by local mining historian Leo Lafond will include photos of early mines, miners, and the animals used in the mines. There also will be a short video on the Lizzadro Museum of Lapidary Art in Elmhurst, Illinois, a museum noted for its collection of carved Chinese jade, pictorial intarsias, hard stone sculptures and more.
A silent auction of mineral specimens and a business meeting will follow the program. The mineral of the month is iron. For more information call 228-9422.
