Marquette – Negaunee archaeologist James Paquette will present a program on ancient caribou hunters in Marquette County on Thursday, December 10 at 7 p.m. in the Community Room of the Peter White Public Library in Marquette.
The slide show and lecture will focus on the results of the Silver Lake Reservoir archaeological survey project that Paquette undertook in 1987-88 and 2002 through 2008 along the eroded shorelines and exposed lake bottoms of temporarily drained Marquette County reservoir basin.
On display will be a collection of rare ancient stone spear points and tools that were left behind by the nomadic families of Ice Age and early Holocene hunter/gatherers who once camped and lived along the shores of Silver Lake.
