Marquette – The Marquette County Health Department’s Continuum of Care Program will sponsor a tree decorating ceremony in commemoration of World AIDS Day on Tuesday, December 1 at 6:30 p.m. at the Peter White Public Library in Marquette.
The tree will be on display through December as part of the library’s Winter Wonderland Walk. The theme of this year’s World AIDS Day is “I Am Living My Rights. Stop AIDS, Keep the Promise.”
The ceremony will include a short prayer and memorial. Red ribbons or red ornaments bearing the names of loved ones whose lives have been lost to AIDS will be placed on the tree. Participants may bring their own special ornaments. Some picture frame ornaments are available.
To receive an ornament or ribbon to decorate in advance call Laura Fredrickson at 475-7651, or e-mail her at lfredrickson@mqtcty.org. For more information on World AIDS Day visit www.worldaidscampaign.org.
