Negaunee – The Peninsula Arts Appreciation Council will present the original play “The Dry,” on Saturday, November 7 and Sunday, November 8 and at 1:30 p.m. at the Michigan Iron Industry Museum in Negaunee Township.
“The Dry” takes place in 1926 at the “dry house” of a mine where 63 men have just died in a mining disaster. It is the story of four widows coping with the loss of their husbands in the accident, sneaking into the dry to retrieve their husbands' street clothes, hoping that doing so will bring a sense of peace.
The play, written by Paul Olson, is a work of fiction inspired by the 1926 Barnes-Hecker disaster.
Admission is free.
