14 year-old Stephanie Schmidt steals the show

Stephanie SchmidtThe first of many Great Lakes Radio Colgate Country Showdown's was held at Larson's Restaurant in downtown Negaunee on Monday, June 9, 2008.

10 contestants belted out their favorite tunes to a packed house at Larsons Restaurant while patrons enjoyed fresh salads and hot sandwiches with french fries while sipping on their favorite adult beverages. The bright and cheerful staff were constantly serving the guests while contestants sang their hearts out for a chance to move on to the regional finals for a chance at $100,000.

Each contestant sang two songs each. First up was 14 year-old Stephanie Schmidt, who floored the judges with her Carrie Underwood renditions. The other contestants gave it their best shot but it was Stephanie who earned 127 points from the panel of four judges to take first place in the first regional. She was also runner-up at last years Colgate Country Showdown State Finals. More – External Link
