The Marquette Area Blues Society pulled off another great event as it closed out its 5th Annual Marquette Area Blues Fest at the Ellwood Mattson Lower Harbor Park with the 2008 Blues Band of the Year, Watermelon Slim and the Workers who also had the 2008 Blues Album of the Year.
Festival goers welcomed the setting sun as the temperature peaked at 92 degrees during mid-day in Marquette. Watermelon Slim and the Workers began setting up their equipment around 7:30pm. Watermelon Slim could be seen setting up his guitar (which he plays with a slide while its laying flat on its back on a stand) and his “Mojo”. Slim's Mojo consisted of several little trinkets and props that he uses during his performances.
