The Marquette Electricians hosted the 18th Annual Fall Classic Midget AAA hockey tournament at Lakeview Arena and the Berry Events Center in Marquette, Michigan on September 25-28, 2008.
The Marquette Electricians had their home opener at Lakeview Arena on Thursday, September 25th against the Indiana Junior Ice. The Electros brought a lot of intensity in this game as they beat Indiana by a score of 7-4.
The Electros have a lot of diversity in playing styles that compliment each other on this years team. Former Marquette Senior High School hockey stand-outs, Joey Enright, brings a much needed spark as a scrappy forward. Combined with Brad Chapman, these two are the enforcers on the team. Forward, John Aho, is a good, powerful skater who sees the ice very well and has good hands. Center and assistant captain, Wolff Belanger, is a very skilled skater, puck handler and is very smart in sticky situations. Wolff is a natural goal scorer who also sees the ice very well. He has a “never give up” attitude. Power forward, Brandon Smaby, is very tenacious with the puck. He can get through almost any situation with good hands, speed and power and is not afraid to “mix-it-up”.
The Electricians play again on Friday afternoon and twice on Saturday. The semi-finals and finals are held at Lakeview Arena on Sunday.
