NMU Wildcat hockey defeats Toronto Varsity Blues in exhibition, 4-1

NMU HockeyThe Northern Michigan University Wildcats hockey team defeated the University of Toronto Varsity Blues by a score of 4-1 at the Berry Events Center in Marquette, Michigan on Sunday, October 5, 2008.

The young guns ruled the day as the NMU Wildcat hockey freshmen accounted for 3 of the 4 goals in their game Sunday.

Marquette native Justin Florek made his Wildcat debut and looked to fit in very well. A big, strong and talented forward.

4 year Marquette Electrician, Phil Axtell, (who was originally recruited by the Michigan Tech Huskies)looked a little timid as he seemed to be unsure of how to use his size and power. Rarely did the 6'5″ freshman finish his checks.

Overall, I think this should be a good team this year with lots of talent and will only get better in the next couple of years.
