Despite being down a key player in the Cats' offense, NMU showed great depth and resilience in what turned out to be a great match between the Division II powerhouses. The Lakers downed the Wildcats in five sets (22-25, 31-29, 25-17, 19-25, 15-12) to take the match at Vandament Arena in Marquette, Michigan on Saturday, November 8, 2008.
Leading NMU defensively was Cassie Osiecki with 20 digs, while Caryn VanBeckum had two blocks at the net.
Despite missing Daniela Bezerra due to an ankle injury, the Cats offense was really strong. Outside hitter, Mandie Meyer led the Wildcats with 23 kills, while setter, Rachel Green collected 52 assists.
