The Negaunee JV boys basketball team was defeated by the Kingsford Flivvers by a score of 42-31 at Lakeview Memorial Gym in Negaunee, Michigan on Tuesday, December 16, 2008.
The Negaunee Miners JV boys basketball team had their hands full with the Kingsford Flivvers on Tuesday night. The Flivvers had a lot of patience on offense and really tried to work the clock. Combined with their relentless defense, the Flivvers really gave the Miners a workout. The Flivvers didn't appear to tire as much as the Miners did late in the game.
The Miners were down by a score of 6-11 at end of the first quarter. Kingsford's extended its lead by 1 point by the end of the first half. The score was 13-19 at the half. At the end of the third quarter, the Miners were down 26-28 but a fowl right at the buzzer gave Negaunee a possible three point chance at the charity stripe. Negaunee made all three free throws to close the third quarter with a score of 29-28.
Kingsford turned up the intensity in the fourth quarter and Negaunee just couldn't match it. Kingsford anded up winning by a score of 42-31.
