The Northern Michigan University Wildcat basketball team defeated the Northland College Lumberjacks by a score of 80-38 on December 29, 2008 at the Berry Events Center in Marquette, Michigan.
Despite the nasty weather and being in the middle of the holiday break, several loyal Wildcat basketball fans showed up for the NMU versus Northland College make-up game.
The Wildcats (who were coming off a two game losing streak against Wayne State and Northwood)were eager to gain some confidence back before facing their arch-rival (Michigan Tech Huskies) on Saturday, January 3rd.
The Wildcats flexed some muscle early and jumped out to a quick lead and never looked back. The Cats' ended the first half up by a score of 43-16.
The Wildcats followed their game plan by forcing the Lumberjacks to shoot from the outside. The Lumberjacks had a really hard time getting through the Cats' defense and almost all of the shots inside the paint were either blocked or turned over. Sometimes they missed the backboard all together.
The Cats' even looked like they were having a little fun on the court with several no look passes, behind the back passes and shovel passes en route to their 80-38 win.
It was nice to see several players that don't see much of the court were able to log some serious playing time.
