Travelers flying out of Marquette Sawyer Regional Airport will soon experience additional comfort and efficiency. Recent upgrades include nearly $500,000 to expand the waiting area beyond security, alleviating congestion with 66 new seats. Another $3.8 million project funded by the Federal Aviation Administration will replace aging passenger bridges with heated versions for more reliable boarding and eliminating the need for winter tarmac walks. Additional updates to the air traffic control tower are also scheduled to further modernize operations. The airport has also requested $400,000 in state funding to market Marquette as a reliable gateway to the U.P., reinforcing its economic importance to the region.
