Marquette Symphony Orchestra: Sounds of the Holidays

The Marquette Symphony Orchestra presents the annual Sounds of the Holiday concert, with a bonus matinee performance!

Your Marquette Symphony Orchestra continues its 2024-25 concert season with our annual “Sounds of the Holidays,” featuring guest conductors Erin Colwitz and Matt Ludwig and special guest vocalists! The concert will be held Saturday, December 14th, at 7:30 PM at Kaufman Auditorium. 

Doors open at 7:00 PM, with the concert being at 7:30 PM. Remaining tickets, if available, may be purchased at the door the night of the concert. The evening’s program includes:

 

Gloria Patri from Magnificent- John Rutter (with Marquette Choral Society),

Ave Maria- Javier Busto (MCS A Capella),

Fantasia on Greensleeves- Vaughan Williams,

In the Bleak Midwinter- Holst/arr. Robert W. Smith,

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone Suit for Orchestra- John Williams,

Selections from Nutcracker- Tchaikovsky,

Rudolph the Red-Nose Reindeer- Johnny Marks/arr. Richard Hayman,

Winter Wonderland- arr. Robert Farnon (Tony Beacco, vocal soloist),

Silent Night- arr. Earle Hagen (Tony Beacco, vocal soloist),

Let It Snow!- arr. Michelle Weir (NMU Art Chorale A Capella),

Glow- Eric Whitacre (with NMU Arts Chorale),

Variations on Jingle Bells- arr. Mark Hayes (with NMU Arts Chorale)

 

An additional matinee encore performance is scheduled for Sunday, December 15th, at 2:00 PM. This will be slightly abbreviated program with a run-time of about one hour. Perfect for young families!

Saturday, December 14th tickets are $27 for general public and $13 for students.

Sunday, December 15th tickets are $20 for general public and $13 for students.

The Marquette Symphony Orchestra’s 2024-25 season is made possible thanks to the support of the Michigan Arts & Culture Council and National Endowment for the Arts, plus continued partnership with Northern Michigan University.
