Marquette, MI –
Ah, yes, this past weekend held the 20th, and final, Marquette Area Blues Fest. As the final iteration of the festival, there were acts that performed that threw attendees back to the first ever MQT Blues Fest. Such as the iconic, and well-known flat Broke Blues Band. The energy was electric as always. Shoes were kicked off as the sun fell each night. Space on the dance floor was prime real estate. Couples, families, singles, and the rest were in attendance. It goes to show how blues music has its hands in many hearts. Those hearts may have been heavy with the fact of this being the final Blues Fest, but they were made much lighter by the presence and spirit of the festival this year. The Marquette Blues Society has assured that even though the festival may be coming to an end, there will still be Blues Society events throughout the year. Thank to everyone involved in making this very special last year of Blues Fest really come through. Without the years of dedication, support, and engagement it couldn’t have been done so well.
Our photographer pulled in some prime moments, raw with the admiration for the blues. Check out the gallery below. Maybe he caught you in the act!!!
