2023 Michigan Ice Festival Underway

Yesterday February 9th, 2023, was the second official day at the Michigan Ice Festival in Munising, MI. There were scores of people out bright and early in the morning getting their climb on. Most people might think climbing walls of ice sounds like nothing but an accident waiting to happen. However these climbers and guides will tell you how much it means to them , and, if done with precaution, can be very fulfilling and safe.

I was on the scene taking photos and videos for the event yesterday. There were tons of stoked climbers pining after the same ice formations. Goes to show you how much the sport has grown in the last 36 years of the festival. One climber said there were an expected 1,800 attendees.

Please enjoy the natural beauty and absolute epicness of the ice climbing
