26th Annual Celebration of Student Scholarship to be held at NMU April 14, 2022

The Northern Michigan University Celebration of Student Scholarship will be held on April 14 on the NMU campus and online. The annual event recognizes the academic contributions of undergraduate and graduate students in all disciplines. Students share their work with the NMU and Marquette communities by presenting research posters, recording oral presentations, and submitting creative written work, and artwork. The event is free and open to the public. Students interested in participating should speak with their faculty advisors for help in planning their submission. The scheduled events are:

  • Opening Ceremony, 10 a.m., Harden Hall. Research poster winners will be announced.
  • Poster Presentations, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., Harden Hall – Lydia Olson Library
  • Talks and Creative Written and Art Work, on-demand, nmu.edu/studentcelebration.

A total of 81 presentations were submitted from nearly every academic department on campus. 66 Research posters will be displayed, which highlight research conducted by all levels of students from first year to master’s degree seeking. Research projects focus on a wide variety of important questions from decolonizing entrepreneurship, brook trout and burbots, CBD use, and college student mental health.

This event is an important opportunity for student scholars to share their work in a way that is accessible to the general public. Its mission is to improve the way we communicate about academic topics and ideas while recognizing the hard work done by NMU students under the guidance of faculty.

NMU student research is made possible by the efforts of faculty. This event is sponsored by the College of Graduate Studies and Research,  Lydia M. Olson Library, Office of NMU President Kerri Schuiling, Office of Academic Affairs, NMU Dining Services and NMU Marketing and Communications.
