Lindberg Says Education Budget – So Far So Good

During a recent trip to the 109th District, Rep. Steve Lindberg, (D) Marquette, said he is pleased with Governor Jennifer Granholm's proposed budget – at least as far as the education budget. However, he noted that the small increase for education this year is basically just at the level of inflation, but at least it's not a reduction. Lindberg, a former secondary education teacher here in the Marquette School District, said that more focus and funding needs to go to early education programs – where learning disabilities are first discovered and mitigated before they get worse with neglect. Lindberg said, “I think the best investment in a young person you can make is in education … and like in any investment, the earlier you make it the bigger your return.” – Pete Mackin, UP to the Minute Report
