MARQUETTE – Mayor Tom Tourville and the entire Marquette City Commission called for Commissioner Don Potvin to resign Monday. Potvin was found guilty of misdemeanor assault on a city worker in a recent jury trial.Mayor Pro Temp Mike Coyne passed a motion to ask the city attorney whether the City Charter allowed them to oust Potvin. The answer was “no”.Coyne then called for a motion to ask Potvin to voluntarily step down. The motion passed with only Potvin dissenting. He also refused to comply with their request.Tourville ended the discussion point out that had a city employee or even the city manager been convicted of misdemeanor assault, that employee would be terminated.
