Renewable energy experts from Sweden visited the Upper Peninsula this week – to meet with forest industry officials and college researchers. According to Hans Gullikssos, project manager with the Swedish Energy Agency, 1n the mid-1990's, southeastern region of Sweden determined to become free of fossil fuels by 2050. So far, the major city of Vaxjo has reduced carbon emissions by roughly 25 percent – the most of any urban area in Europe. Gullikssos and others are presenting at a public seminar at Bay de Noc Community College today (Feb. 26) from 10 a.m. to noon. The event is co-hosted by Michigan Tech and Michigan State universities.
