NEA Big Read: Two-Time U. P. Poet Laureate Marty Achatz Hybrid Poetry Workshop
Thursday, November 4, 2021, 7 p.m.-9 p.m. The Joy Center in Ishpeming and Peter White Public Library Zoom. Teens, Family, Adults, Seniors. Marty Achatz, two-time Poet Laureate of the Upper Peninsula, will conduct a poetry-writing workshop with prompts focused on the theme of honoring your ancestors, which is a major theme in An American Sunrise. These writing prompts will allow participants to connect with and discuss Harjo’s work through word and memory. Masks required at indoor programs, regardless of vaccination status.
