Sen. McBroom statement on Michigan Tech suspending face-to-face instruction March 11, 2020

LANSING, Mich. — State Sen. Ed McBroom, R-Vulcan, issued the following statement on Wednesday after Michigan Technological University (MTU) announced it will suspend face-to-face instruction beginning March 16 in response to the novel coronavirus COVID-19:

“I appreciate how difficult this decision must have been for the leadership at MTU. Our small communities have significantly small reserves in the way of medical services. It is obvious that MTU, in working diligently to protect its students and home community, recognizes how the large student body, combined with a significant medical emergency, may be a burden too great for the available services.

“The ability to continue the education of so many by utilizing technology is a huge blessing and tribute to all who continue to pursue the increasingly valued degrees from Michigan Tech.”
