Over the weekend the Rotary Club of Ishpeming surprised their Evening of Romance participants with a sizable donation made out to the Historic Vista Theater. The $10,000.00 donation was a mixture of local club funds and a district matching grant.In mid-January, the club visited the Vista Theater in Downtown Negaunee and became enchanted with the proposition of being able to help renovate the seating area of this historical landmark and feel this can have a positive impact and make a major difference for the community. This project includes such measures as replacing the aged seating with modernized seating, new flooring, and new carpeting, among other upgrades.In addition to the grant, the club will also be volunteering by assisting in removing old and installing new seating in the auditorium. “This is a beautiful building with so much history.This will be a great arts and cultural center within the west end of Marquette County which will provide a nice venue for community entertainment for all individuals to participate. This is only possible because of our club’s supporters,” commented Lance Peterson, current club President.“We are both honored and ecstatic in receiving this grant from the Rotary Club of Ishpeming. We have been working hard over the past few years repairing our roofs, which are now complete. We are ready to move forward with our interior work and think that improving the customer experience with this seating project is great timing for everyone.
