Marquette, MI – The MRCH Presents Camera Hunter Wednesday, February 12, 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Marquette Regional History Center.

George Shiras III left quite a legacy on the Upper Peninsula, the world of photography, and conservation policy in America. Northern Michigan University professor and author, James McCommons, spent several years researching, traveling and writing the first biography of this important figure in the early 20th century.

Camera Hunter: George Shiras III and the Birth of Wildlife Photography was released in October 2019. We invite you to hear about this beautiful book from the author’s perspective. Lecture and book signing. While you are here, enjoy in our main gallery the display of John Hammer and George Shiras camera equipment on exhibit. $5 suggested donation.
