Marquette, MI – Great Lakes Recovery Centers (GLRC) will be hosting the 2nd Annual Spaghetti and Sisu event on Monday, June 3rd, at Messiah Lutheran Church in Marquette. The event is open to the public and will include a spaghetti lunch and a short program addressing behavioral health issues and needs in the UP. All donations will benefit the John Kivela Legacy Fund to support behavioral health services in the UP.
The John Kivela Legacy Fund was established within the GLRC Foundation in collaboration with Kivela friends and family as a tribute to the late State Representative and his passion for the communities he served. The Fund began with a Spaghetti and Sisu Dinner organized by friends and family of Kivela in Lansing on May 9th, 2018, to celebrate Kivela’s life. It is the hopes of Kivela’s friends, family and GLRC that the Fund will continue to grow, ensuring that substance abuse and mental health services will continue healing community members across the Upper Peninsula.
