KBIC Presentation About Summit Lake Wind Project Concerns April 15th

Marquette, MI – Keweenaw Bay Indian Community (KBIC) concerns related to the proposed Summit Lake Wind Project in the Huron Mountains will be the subject of a presentation hosted by Northern Michigan University’s Center for Native American Studies. The event will be held at 2 pm on Monday, April 15th in 109 Harden Hall (formerly the Learning Resources Center). The public is invited.

According to the project website, Renewable Energy Systems has proposed a wind energy facility with 49 turbines, each nearly 500 feet in height. RES is conducting technical and environmental surveys to assess the viability of the project. The KBIC announced its opposition in 2018 and this presentation will focus on its “concerns for the land, community and future generations.” Speakers will be KBIC President Warren C. Swartz Jr. and Jeffery Loman.
