Marquette, MI – Middle Eastern studies expert Benny Morris will present “A New Look at the 1948 Arab-Israeli War and the Creation of the Palestinian Refugee Problem” at Northern Michigan University. His presentation begins at 7 pm on Monday, April 8th at Reynolds Recital Hall. NMU’s Jewish Student Union is sponsoring the event. Admission is $2 for community members and free for NMU students with a valid ID.
An internationally recognized public intellectual and Professor Emeritus in the Department of Middle Eastern Studies at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Morris’ lecture will focus on the history of the 1948 Israeli War of Independence and origins of the Palestinian refugee problem. A Q&A with the audience is slated to follow the presentation.
Morris has published numerous scholarly books and articles about the history of the Middle East, as well as columns, op-eds and interviews in New York Review of Books, The New York Times, New Republic, Fathom: For a Deeper Understanding of Israel and the Region, and The Guardian.
